Our research
tells us that only 30% of the young people who need help getting
through a tough time actually get any kind of help at all. Sadly,
this means that 70% of young people that are in need of support and
information are left to try and figure things out alone.
Feeling alone is a dark and scary place, especially for a young
person. You sit alone in your room and wonder why you're feeling
like this and why it's happening to you. It's hard to ask for
help. Who do you ask? What do you ask for? You feel
embarrassed, weak or vulnerable to attacks by those who don't
understand what you're going through.
Here at Reach Out
Teachers Network we want high school students to know that
whatever they're going through, they're not alone. That's why we've
launched the Back to [High]
School kits. We want to send ReachOut.com promotion kits
containing materials like posters, flyers and stickers to schools
all over Australia and let high school students know that ReachOut.com exists.

In order to make sure that kits go directly to our school
students, we need your help. Teachers are one of the most
trusted sources of health information and advice identified by
students (Australian Secondary School Students Sex Survey, 2009).
We already help teachers to promote ReachOut.com through classroom
resources and an online community that we call the Reach Out
Teachers Network - but what we also need is to promote the
existence of ReachOut.com more directly to students.
Last year alone ReachOut.com reached over 400,000 young people.
This year ReachOut.com aims to reach every high school student
across the country.
Help us to promote ReachOut.com in every Australian high school
by buying one or more
Back to [High] School kits for your school
today. Just $44 will get you a class set of materials for
distribution to students and for promotion around your school.
We all hope that young people would be able to talk to their
mates, parents, or even teachers if things are rough but it's just
not that easy to open up, especially when you're trying to cope
with all the changes you're going through. For most young people
it's pretty easy to think "I don't want to bother anyone with my
problems, I should just deal with it myself".
This is where accessing ReachOut.com helps. ReachOut.com is not
there to replace real friendships - but to support them. It
doesn't judge, it doesn't mock, or laugh, and it doesn't give bad
advice. It just makes it easier for a young person to find out what
other young people have been through, how they dealt with it, and
even what the experts recommend they should do.
